Widow’s Mite Initiative Int’l Inaugurated in Kogi, set to Train Students on ICT Skills, 251 Receive Free Medical Treatment

It at an atmosphere filled with joy as a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) known as Widow’s Mite Initiative International was inaugurated in Iyara, Headquarters of Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Also, a state-of-the-art Information and Communication Technology (ICT) was inaugurated to provide digital skills to students and adults free of charge while about 251 people received free medical treatments.

Speaking at the well attended ceremony on Saturday, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NGO, Pastor Florence Olorunnipa noted that her late Brother, Engr. Joseph Abiodun Osanaiye endeared her to philanthropic gestures as he spent most of his life time promoting girl child education and payment of school fees.

Pastor Olorunnipa pointed out that “today, some of us are emulating his legacy to make education a great priority for all our children, regardless of family financial standards.”

She stated that no child should be left behind due to family inadequacies especially financial hardship, pointing out that lee privileged children could restore the lost glory of the country.

The CEO maintained that the ICT Centre if utilized by the target beneficiaries will enhance their digital learning skills and prepare youths that will compete favorably anywhere they find themselves world over.

According to her, while the NGO had reached out to schools in Iyara and its environs to bring their children for computer training, the people must take ownership of the facility.

The Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom, Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni in his remarks applauded the inventiveness of the Widow’s Mite Initiative International, saying Computer education is not only for the young but for women and the elderly.

Oba Ayeni expressed optimism that products of the Centre will be of world class, promising to do everything humanly possible to protect the facility against vandals

While the National President of Iyara Development Association (IDA), Dr. Aliyu Badaki thanked the NGO for the Initiative, the Eleta Oluyara of Iyara, Oba Jacob Meduteni and Obaro of Olle, Oba Solomon Ibejigba praised Pastor Olorunnipa for her exemplary style, urging other well-to-do individuals to emulate her.

 

The NGO also donated a motorized borehole to Iyara community.
