As political momentum builds ahead of Nigeria’s National Assembly bye-elections, All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant, Comrade Yakubu Waziri, has pledged to focus on security and community development in Kaduna State, while downplaying reports of a political coalition in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency.

Waziri, who is contesting for the House of Representatives seat in Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, made this known shortly after obtaining his nomination and expression of interest forms at the APC secretariat in Abuja.

“Our constituency has long suffered the brunt of insecurity. People are tired of living in fear. If elected, my legislative priority will be to support laws and initiatives that protect our communities and strengthen local peace structures,” he said.

He acknowledged the efforts of both federal and state authorities in improving security but stressed that gaps remain. “Some progress has been made, but we need to go further. It’s time to consolidate peace through proactive representation and community involvement,” Waziri added.

On speculations of a brewing political coalition in the constituency, Waziri dismissed them as baseless, describing the claims as the handiwork of desperate politicians.

“There is no such coalition in Chikun/Kajuru or even Kaduna State. These are tales spread by people trying to create confusion. I’m focused on service, not distraction,” he asserted.

Waziri and other APC contenders have pledged to run issue-based campaigns ahead of the polls. The party’s leadership has reiterated its commitment to a transparent selection process, urging aspirants to uphold the principles of internal democracy and remain focused on the development needs of their constituencies.
