In a bid to enhance grassroots security infrastructure, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Tuesday commissioned the newly constructed Divisional Police Headquarters in Ekirin-Ade, Ijumu Local Government Area by the Nigeria Police Trusts fund
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to community-based policing and infrastructural development across the state.
He said the building of the divisional headquarters was part of his administration strategy to decentralize security architecture and bring law enforcement closer to the people.
“This facility represents more than just a building it symbolizes our unwavering dedication to the safety and welfare of our citizens,” Governor Ododo said
“Today we are not just commissioning a police station, we are unveiling a smart police facilities with modern tools, digital surveillance system and infrastructure that reflects the future of policing. This speaks volumes about the narration we must all embrace which is technology driven solution for crime prevention and control” Ododo said.
The Governor noted that the new police headquarters will serve as a nerve center for maintaining peace and order in Ijumu and neighboring communities..
Governor Ododo commended the Nigeria Police Security Trust fund for the laudable project and praised the Executive Secretary Nigeria Police Trusts fund Muhammad Sheidu for his intervention in the security of the state by exploring technology in combatting crime
He praised the people of Ijumu for their longstanding support for government initiatives and charged security operatives stationed at the facility to remain professional, diligent, and community-focused in their duties.
The Olu Jumu of Ijumu and Chairman Ijumu Area Traditional Council Oba Williams AyenI lauded the project, describing it as a milestone achievement and a significant boost to local security efforts.
The Inspector General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun Represented by the AIG Abubakar Suberu expressed gratitude to the state government for its unwavering support and assured that the new division would be well-utilized to combat crime effectively.
Egbetokun Appreciated the Executive Secretary Nigeria Police Trusts fund Muhammad sheidu for his intervention in the police force.
The Ekirin-Ade Divisional Police Headquarters features administrative offices, and a community relations desk, symbolizing the administration’s drive for security and public engagement..
The Governor earlier paid a condolences visit to the family of major Joe Ajayi who was kidnapped in his home town Odo Ape in Kabba Bunu Local Government Area and died in kidnappers detention after paying a ransom of ten million naira.
