As Muslim faithful across the world observe this year’s Eid-el Kabir celebration, the Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Fatima Momoh has advocated the spirit of peace and tolerance among Nigerians.
Hajia Fatima Momoh stated this in her Salah message in Lokoja.
According to her, all acts of violence which resort to intolerant behaviors undermine the peaceful nature of the Islamic religion and enjoined all Nigerians to embrace peaceful coexistence and show consideration to one another.
She said Eid-el Kabir celebration provides opportunity for the people to reflect on the values of sacrifice, love, peace and tolerance, which he said form the central points of the celebration.
The Commissioner stressed the need for all to demonstrate full obedience and submission to the will of the Almighty Allah as Prophet Ibrahim did through his willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail, an act that Muslims across the world remember through their sacrifice of rams during the annual festivity.
Hajia Fatima Momoh also congratulated the governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, his deputy, Elder Joel Salifu Oyibo, members of the Executive and the legislators on this year’s celebration and prayed God to continue to uphold them.
The Commissioner also congratulated the mother of the state and wife of the state governor, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo on the occasion and commended her for her tireless efforts in seeing to the well-being of women, children as well as the less privileged in the society.
While wishing the Muslim Ummah a happy and safe Eid celebration, the Commissioner restated the commitment of her ministry to the well-being of the citizens of the state.
