A Non Governmental Organization, Standup for Women Society has called on women to be active participants rather than passive in Nation building.
The State Chairperson of the Organization Muslimat Itopa made the call when she led members on a Sensitization visit to the popular Kpata Market to Mark International Day for women.
Standup for Women Society is a Non Governmental Organization that have it’s chapters across the thirty six State of the federation including FCT Abuja.
It is an organization that has a vision of a society where women are empowered, respected, and given equal opportunities in all spheres of life.
The organization is dedicated to fostering gender equality, supporting women’s development, and ensuring their active participation in governance, entrepreneurship, and social progress.
Mrs Itopa emphasized the strength, resilience, and progress of women worldwide.
She encouraged the women to strive hard to give their girl child quality Education saying gone are the days that women education ends in the kitchen.
According to the State Chairperson the theme for the day “Accelerate Action” serves as a call to intensify efforts in various areas, including closing the gender pay gap, increasing women’s representation in leadership positions, ensuring access to education and healthcare, and eliminating gender-based violence
She urged them to support women in position with prayers for them to succeed in their various endeavors.
” My fellow women I want you to use this occasion to reach out to other women to let them know why it is important for them to participate in politics and support women during election” Mrs Itopa noted.
She acknowledged ongoing challenges and reaffirmed the state government commitment to creating an environment where every woman and girl in Kogi State can flourish.
Muslimat praised the state first lady Hajia Sefinat Ahmed Usman for her empowerment programs that has touched many lives positively in the society.
The National Public Relations Officer of the organization, Billy Nwogu, State Secretary, Rabi JIbo and Local Government Coordinator,Nene Otonoku spoke in the three major languages of Ebira, Igala and Okun to enlighten the women on the significant of the day
The Association also gave cash to some elderly women who are petty traders in the market.
One of the beneficiary Hajara Sani appealed to the state Government to provide more empowerment for them to boost their businesses.
