Kogi State Government has handed over site for the construction of an ultra modern market in Lokoja, the State Capital.
The proposed market is to be located on a fifteen hectares of land along the Hassan Katsina Road in the Capital of the Confluence city.
The Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Mohammed Muktar Shuaibu, who presented the Contract approval letter to the contractor, said the project is expected to be completed in three years.
According to him, the proposed market is expected to have state-of-the-art modern market facilities, urging the contractor to execute the job in line with specification.
He noted that the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo is passionate about creating enabling environment for investors.
The Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Abanika Taiye stated that the market when completed will bring real urbanisation to the State capital.
Abanika praised Governor Ododo for showing the political will in the urbanization of the State Capital, describing it as a step in the right direction.
Speaking on behalf of the Contracting Company, Director Architectural Services of SABC Limited, Abdurazak Adio promised to live up to expectations.
