Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Umar Yusuf has enjoined Kakanda sons and daughters across the state to work for the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State to demonstrate their gratitude to the present administration for ensuring one of them emerged as the Speaker.
Yusuf stated this at a meeting of the entire Kakanda People in Lokoja Local Government Area where hundreds of participants attended.
According to him, a vote for Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo was not only for the APC, but a demonstration of their resolve to ensure they protect what providence had brought to their land with the position of the head of the legislature.
The Speaker recalled how the ethnic group have made efforts to see their land move forward, noting that the progress being witnessed in the area and the state within the short period of his emergence is a testament to his desire to see to the development of the land and Lokoja Local Government in general.
He noted that those making efforts to lure people of the area to do otherwise in the upcoming gubernatorial election were people without any form of credibility in terms of contribution to the development of Kakanda Land despite the opportunities they had in the past.
Yusuf called on them to avoid such people, saying they are only interested in their personal gains and not in seeing the area move forward in terms of development.
While calling on the people to ensure they comb all parts of the area and campaign for the APC, the Speaker tasked them to ensure landslide victory that would justify the trust reposed in them.
Responding, the people of the area collectively stated their resolve to ensure the victory of the APC in the November eleven governorship poll, adding that they believe in the Speaker’s drive to ensure Kakanda Land and Kogi State in general is developed.
