Deaconess Rachael Ukwo John, the DLG/HOS, Ofu Local Government Area is a seasoned administrator who has achieved much in a short period.
Deaconess Rachael’s amiable and sound leadership qualities coupled with her diligence and humane disposition with which she performs her official duties as the Acting Chairman of Ofu Local Government Council is an eloquent testimony that has really proved this woman of destiny as a leader to reckon with.
On assumption of office, as the Acting Chairman of the Council, Deaconess Rachael Ukwo John, called for the attention of the security agents, and assisted the vigilante groups in Ofu Local Government Area financially and materially to promote peace and security in the area.
She believed in team work, and therefore carried all the staff of the Council along in the scheme of things with her management team ensuring that the staff come to work promptly and perform their duties with efficiency deserved to move the Local Government forward.
Deaconess Ukwo John under the directive of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo prioritised the staff welfare, majorly in the prompt payment of salaries, allowances, leave grants and personal claims, incurred in the course of performing their official duties.
She also placed the principal officers of the Council on imprest to enable them run their respective offices with effectiveness, and engaged some capable hands on auxiliary capacity to complement the insufficient personnel in the Local Government, who received their stipend monthly.
As a health officer, Deaconess Rachael Ukwo John regularly, and jointly funded state and Local Government health programmes to ensure that the health sector is given priority in Ofu Local Government area.
Deaconess Rachael Ukwo John constantly assists community based development associations to either commence or complete the development projects in their respective communities.
As it stands now, Ofu Local Government is not indebted to anybody or organisation, a very rare feat DLG has accomplished, by labouring tirelessly to bring the Local Government accounts garnishing case to a permanent close.
In the area of education, the Local Government has been giving financial assistance to students in schools and colleges in the area.
The Local Government during the period under Deaconess Rachael Ukwo John, frequently assist the programmes of the less privileged in the Council by her ingenuity and diligence in Handling sensitive matters.
The administration also embarked in the construction and rehabilitation of the road leading to the Local Government Staff Quarters as well as the one that led to the Secretariat.
Similarly, the DLG embarked on some road rehabilitation within the Secretariat and constructed a bus stop at the frontage of the Local Government Secretariat, Ugwolawo through the NULGE Executive.
In view of her excellent performance within the period under reviewed, Deaconess Rachael Ukwo John has received a good numbers of awards which includes: An award of Excellent Performance by the Ofu Local Government branch of NULGE Executives, An award of Excellence in Administration by the Association of Women workers in Ofu Local Government, an award of Humanitarian Services by the branch of Ofu Local Government Health and Medical Workers Union of Nigeria (HMWUN). etc
