The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sunday Karimi has promised total commitment to the development of Kogi State.
At a media parley to mark his two years in office on Saturday, Senator Karimi said he would extend his scholarship to the three Senatorial districts to justify his love for all round development.
According to him, the three Senatorial districts are to receive one hundred million naira each as scholarship for students in tertiary institutions.
He explained that his previous scholarship only covered Kogi West and emphasized the need for more commitment to education.
The Senator who described security as cardinal, noted that it was in line with this that he initiated and built an Forward Operating Base, FOB at Egbe to serve as an inter section between Kogi, Ekiti and Kwara states towards addressing the security challenges facing the people.
He assured that his leadership would be more committed to delivering more dividends of democracy to his constituents as his achievements and ongoing projects speaks volume, expressing satisfaction with his performance in the Senate so far.
“I remains committed to bringing more development projects and democratic benefits to the people of Kogi West, education , security, Youth and women empowerment as well as other infrastructural development will receive more attention”, Karimi stated.
Senator Karimi revealed that he has sponsored over ten bills, including an amendment to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, many of which have passed various stages in the legislative process, adding that he has moved over 30 motions in the Senate, which are of great significance to the society at large.
“I have provided transformers and solar-powered streetlights to over 500 communities. We have also rehabilitated more than 140 boreholes to improve access to potable drinking water in areas like Lokoja, Kabba-Bunu, Yagba East, and Yagba West,” he stated.
He also noted that road projects worth over N2 billion are ongoing across the senatorial district, aimed at improving the socio economic lives of the people.
Karimi also announced various empowerment initiatives, including the release of N100 million to support women in the district and another N60 million to a separate group of beneficiaries.
The Senator commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts in addressing inherited challenges, stressing that the President is doing well and should be appreciated and supported.
Earlier, the Vice President zone D of the NUJ, Alhaji Adeiza Momohjimoh said the zone was glad to have an impactful senator who feels the pains of his people and urged him to sustain the tempo.
The Kogi State Chairman of NUJ, Alhaji Ademu Seidu Haruna described the Senator as a detribalized political leader, saying his plan to extend his scholarship scheme to other senatorial districts was first of its kind.
