The Senate has passed the 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Bill of N2.17 trillion that was recently transmitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the National Assembly.
The passage of the bill followed the adoption of the report of the harmonised sittings on the bill by both chambers as submitted by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Solomon Olamilekan- Adeola
The bill expeditiously scaled third reading as lawmakers said it is for the benefit of the country.
Key summations of the budget include N210bn for Wage Award for Civil Servants, N605 billion for National Security and Defence, N300 billion for maintenance of bridges, especially the Eko bridge, and N400 billion for cash transfer to vulnerable households, N200 billion for seed and agricultural inputs and equipment and N18 billion for Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct off-season elections.

President Bola Tinubu had on Tuesday, written to the National Assembly seeking the consideration of the supplementary budget, a day after it was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
