The Senate has approved the appointment of Dr. Aminu Yusuf from Niger State as the new Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC).

Also confirmed were Kigbu Joseph Haruna from Nasarawa State and Tonga Betara Bularafa from Yobe State as commissioners of the Commission.

Their confirmation followed the adoption of a report presented by the Senate Committee on National Identity and National Population, led by Senator Victor Umeh of Anambra Central.

Presenting the report, Senator Umeh noted that all three nominees were screened and found qualified for the positions to which President Bola Tinubu had nominated them.

President Tinubu had earlier forwarded their names to the Senate for confirmation about two weeks ago.

In his remarks, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio congratulated the appointees and urged them to deliver their best in serving the nation.
