Sallah Celebration: FRSC Deploys Personnel  To Highways In Kogi

The Federal Road Safety Corps has deployed personnel and equipment to highways in Kogi State to ensure free flow of traffic during the Sallah celebration.

The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Corps, Kumar Tsukwam stated this while featuring on this week’s edition of State of Kogi, an audience participatory program in Lokoja.

Commander Tsukwam said the deployment of the personnel and equipment for the special operation within Kogi is to enhance hitch-free and safe travels during the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

While wishing motorist safe travels to, and from their respective destinations, Mr. Tsukwam urged drivers to be disciplined and obey road traffic regulations by avoiding unwholesome practices that could lead to crashes and fatalities.

On the recent accident that occured along Lokoja – Obajana road in Lokoja Local Government Area which claimed the lives of nineteen person’s including five children and eight others injured, the Sector Commander described the incident as unfortunate and avoidable.

While noting that the accident was as a result of excessive speeding, Mr. Tsukwam urged drivers not to speed beyond one hundred kilometre in view of the current state of the road.

He advised motorist to always adhere to road traffic regulations, exhibit the highest level of caution and discipline and avoid any unwholesome practice such as speeding and overloading.

A caller from Felele, Lokoja, Mrs. Jane Ibrahim appealed to the Sector Commander to deploy personnel of the Command to Felele road to help control the over speeding of articulated vehicles on the road.

Another caller, Mr. Samuel from Lokoja while commending the Sector Commander for the enlightenment, called for a check in the rising increase of underage articulated vehicle drivers on the highway.

Recall that nineteen person’s lost their lives including five children and eight others injured recently along Lokoja – Obajana road in Lokoja Local Government Area.
