The Vice Chancellor, Salem University Lokoja, Professor Alewo Johnson Akubo says the institution will soon commence academic programmes for Medicine and Engineering.
Professor Akubo made this known on this week’s edition of State of Kogi, a Radio Kogi Audience Participatory Programme.
Established seventeen years ago, Salem University Lokoja, a great citadel of learning has continued to contribute to academic excellence in the country, ranking among top two thousand Universities in the World.
The Vice Chancellor said the proposed commencement of Medicine and Engineering Programmes is part of the commitment of the University in moulding global leaders that will contribute meaningfully to nation building.
According to him, the eight Medical Health Science Courses have already been fully approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) saying about eighteen programmes have been accredited.
He explained that while laying a solid foundation for academic excellence in the School, qualified Staff have been that can compete with their counterparts all over the world have been engaged.
Professor Akubo appealed to Kogi State Government as well as Security Agencies to partner with the University in the Area of Security, pointing out that the School must be seen as Kogi project as it is also one of the largest employers of Labour in the State.
He stated that as part of the commitment of the Founder of the University, about three hundred youths across the Federation have benefited from the scholarship programme of the school under the Sam Amaga Foundation.
The Vice Chancellor added that arrangements have been concluded for the twenty-twenty two twenty-twenty three combined Convocation where four hundred and ninety eight undergraduate and post graduate students will be graduated.
