Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has been praised for boosting and invigorating the economy of the state through prompt payment of salaries, pension, gratuities and staff allowances.
The Special Adviser on Finance, Mr Idris Ozi Shaib who gave the commendation in his congratulatory message to the Governor on his one year in office said payment of pensions have quadrupled since Governor Ododo emerged as a the governor of the State.
“These huge financial interventions, which are based on the new minimum wage of N72,500 have provided the citizens of the state a substantial PURCHASING POWER to spend more money on their daily needs and responsibilities in the areas food purchases, medical services, school fees, home maintenance and taking care of extended families/dependants.
The resultant effect of these financial interventions reflect in more sales by traders, market women, business people, boosting the local economies and bringing joy, happiness and substantial improvement in the standard of living of our numerous citizens.The Governor also graciously waived PAYE taxes for state workers’for one year, translating to over N300 million per month in furthering purchasing power in the hands of workers”Idris Ozi Shaib stressed.
Mr Ozi Shaib also commended the Governor for his exemplary leadership and performance so far especially in the areas of education, road construction, provision of health services, security, agriculture, prudent management of resources, good governance and peaceful conduct of government activities.
He noted that Governor Ododo’s humble disposition and respect for all and sundry had indeed endeared him to both friends and foes, thereby setting a new narrative in the art of governance in Kogi State.
Mr Ozi Shaib congratulated the Governor on the successes so far recorded and assured him of support of the people of Kogi State at all times for delivery of more dividends of democracy in the years ahead.
