Radio Kogi NUJ Chapel Elects New Executives

The Radio Kogi Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has elected new executives to pilot the affairs of the union.

This was the outcome of the Triennial Delegate Congress of the Chapel held at the State Broadcasting Corporation, Lokoja.

After the three years expiration of the Tenure of the Comrade Boniface Omachonu led Radio Kogi chapel of NUJ, members gathered to elect new officials.

While some officials where reelected, new ones where voted for unopposed in an affirmative election that was adjudged to be free, fair and credible.

Those reelected are, Boniface Omachonu, Chairman, Ernest Zhokwo, Vice Chairman, Bashir Idris, Secretary, Muslimat Itopa, Treasurer and Makafan Joseph as Financial Secretary.

Others are; Bilikisu Abdullahi Yahuza, Assistant Secretary and Temitope Abejide Elijah as Auditor.

The Secretary of the State Council of NUJ,, Comrade Olusegun Oyenibi, who presided over the election, commended the Credential Committee and members for a job well done, describing the process as one of the best ever recorded due to its proper planning and transparency.

He charged the newly elected executives to perform better , urging them to work as a team and serve in unity and love for the growth of the union.

The Secretary also expressed appreciation to the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, for his good work and appealed to the state government to urgently address the working conditions of Radio Kogi and its staff by rehabilitating the office

Also speaking at the event, the former President of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Zone D, Hajia Habibatullah Onakpa Abdallah, congratulated the newly elected executives and advised them to distinguish between union activities and their professional duty.

In his acceptance speech, the Chairman, Mr. Boniface Omachonu, expressed his gratitude to the NUJ state secretary and members for ensuring a free and fair election.

He pledged to work closely with other executive members to achieve set goals and promote the growth of the Union.
