Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has lauded the impressive developmental achievements of his Ekiti State counterpart, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, during a commissioning ceremony of landmark projects in Ilawe-Ekiti on Tuesday.
Governor Ododo, who was warmly received by the government and people of Ekiti State, described the event as a celebration of visionary leadership and commitment to public service.
The Kogi State leader commissioned two major people-oriented projects , the Ikere–Ilawe Road and the renovated and fully equipped General Hospital, Ilawe-Ekiti both executed under the Oyebanji administration.
Speaking at the dual commissioning, Governor Ododo commended Governor Oyebanji for his visible, impactful, and inspiring performance in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and youth development since assuming office three years ago.
“These projects touch lives directly and reflect the heartbeat of good governance,” Ododo said. “Governor Oyebanji has demonstrated that government exists to serve, uplift, and empower the people.”
Highlighting the significance of the 20.65-kilometre Ikere–Ilawe Road, Ododo noted that the project, which began in 2022 but stalled at 15 percent completion before the present administration, symbolizes continuity in governance and progressive leadership.
He also praised the renovated Ilawe General Hospital as a testament to Oyebanji’s commitment to quality healthcare delivery and his understanding that “a healthy population is the foundation of a productive society.”
Governor Ododo urged Ekiti residents to take ownership of the projects, protect them, and continue supporting their governor.
He further emphasized the longstanding ties between Kogi and Ekiti States, commending Oyebanji for policies that have benefitted citizens from both states.
“Apart from my official relationship with Governor Oyebanji, I have a personal one with him, and I can boldly say he loves Ekiti and serves with integrity. He is an indomitable asset to the progressive family,” Ododo stated.
The Kogi Governor also applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for implementing policies that have empowered state governments to deliver infrastructure and improve livelihoods at the grassroots.
“Without those bold moves that have redefined our nation’s destiny, we might not be witnessing these giant strides today,” he remarked.
Governor Ododo encouraged Oyebanji to remain steadfast and focused despite opposition criticism, assuring him of continued solidarity from the progressive family and the people of Kogi State.
The ceremony was attended by top government officials, traditional rulers, and community leaders, was described by residents as a landmark occasion symbolizing regional cooperation and shared progress between Kogi and Ekiti States.
