In a sweeping move to strengthen operational capacity and align with his new strategic vision, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has approved a major redeployment of senior officers across the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). The reshuffle, described as a “strategic recalibration,” targets greater efficiency, synergy, and adaptability in response to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the reorganisation, which affects several top-level command and staff positions, underscores Air Marshal Aneke’s commitment to repositioning the Air Force for enhanced mission readiness and innovation-driven operations. The postings cover key directorates at Headquarters NAF, field commands, and specialised units across the country.
Among the notable changes, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Abubakar Abdullahi takes over as Chief of Policy and Plans, while AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun assumes command of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna. AVM Ibitayo Ajiboye becomes Group Managing Director of NAF Investment Limited (NAFIL), with AVM Precious Amadi now serving as Chief of Operations and AVM Nnamdi Ananaba as Chief of Air Intelligence.
Further appointments include AVM Ebimobo Ebiowe as Superintendent of Standards and Evaluation, AVM Ahmed Dari as Chief of Training, and AVM Mohammed Ibrahim as Chief of Transformation and Innovation. Others are AVM Olufemi Ogunsina, Chief of Aircraft Engineering; AVM Michael Onyebashi, AOC Mobility Command; and AVM David Pwajok, Chief of Communication and Information Systems.
In the administrative and welfare segments, AVM Chidiebere Obiabaka has been appointed Air Secretary, AVM Anthony Martins becomes Chief of Administration, and AVM Edward Gabkwet assumes duty as Chief of Civil-Military Relations. Several other senior officers, including AVMs Ahmed Bakari, Albert Bot, Idi Sani, and Muhammed Suleiman, have also been redeployed to strategic defence institutions to enhance joint operations and inter-service coordination.
The Nigerian Air Force said the redeployments form part of a deliberate plan to “reinvigorate command effectiveness and sustain transformation momentum.” With this renewed structure, Air Marshal Aneke’s administration aims to build a force that is smarter, adaptive, and mission-focused, anchored on professionalism, discipline, and purpose-driven service to the nation.
