MAMII Co-creation Seminar Ends In Lokoja With A Call On Mothers To Be Available Always For Free Treatment

As the five day maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiate (MAMII) programme ends in kogi state, mothers have been enjoined to make themselves available for the free treatment to prevent Maternal Mortality.

Commissioner for Health Doctor Adams Abdulazeez Adeiza made the call in a message to the closing ceremony of the five day Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative Organized by Nigeria Innovation Hub for Healthier Births in collaboration with most affected states in the country and Partners.

Represented by Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Steven Azeez Momoh, the Commissioner noted that the project focuses on one hundred and seventy-two Local Government Areas of the country where over Fifty-five percent of Maternal and NeonataLl deaths are recorded.

He noted that over the past five days they have shared Knowledge, reviewing data, built Capacities, visited Communities and strengthened Collaborations to ensure that no women dies while given birth as well as ensuring that every newborn child in kogi state has a healthy start to life.

The Commissioner assured facilitators of the ministry’s commitment to sustain the momentum through the implementation of evidence-based intervention, continuous training of health personnel and improved coordination with local government health authorities.

Doctor Adams appealed to all health Stakeholders and participant to return to their duty posts as ambassadors of safe motherhood by applying the knowledge gained to mentor and ensure that every expectant mother and newborn receives quality health care.

Representative of National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System, Mallam Salifu Abubakar noted that arrangement are on ground for free Transportation of patients to primary Health Care centers within their communities, urging mothers to take advantage of the opportunities.

There were Goodwill messages from Kogi State Health Insurance Scheme, Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Federal Ministry of Health, National Health Insurance Authority, JNI kogi, FONWAN, CAN and WOWICAN Kogi state

Highlight of the training was distribution of delivery kits for nursing mothers.
