Kogi State Coordinator of Made in Nigeria Project office, Usman Mohammed Nasir says the media has roles to play in order to meet the set objectives.
Usman made the remark when he led his team on a sensitization visit to the State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ in Lokoja.
He noted that the project is being domesticated in Kogi State in view of the abundant natural resources.
According to him, the Federal Government has made significant steps to promote made in Nigeria products in order to avoid over dependence on foreign products.
He stated that the concept has been long conceived and actualized through the renewed hope Agenda of the present administration in the Country.
“Nigeria has the potential to become the world’s best economy, Nigerians Should believe in themselves and make use of what we produce.
Depending on foreign products does not do the nation any good”, he stated.
Usman said Nigeria has enough resources to be proud of, adding that it is the duty of all to cause attitudinal change, emphasizing that there are more than thirty four solid minerals in Kogi State, hence the local products can be refined to meet international standards.
Responding, the State Chairman of NUJ, Alhaji Ademu Seidu said the establishment of the office was a positive development.
Alhaji Ademu Seidu however said the office has a lot to do, describing the idea as noble and will be encouraged.
He assured that the NUJ will collaborate with the office to enable them achieve set goals at promoting made in Nigeria products.
