Kogi State Government has commenced the solid concrete work on Oguma Township Road.
This followed the approval of the Solid Concrete Solution by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Managing Director of Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency, Dr. Yunusa Alhassan while speaking during a visit to the Palace of Aguma of Bassa,Chief William Keke said instead of asphalt overlay, the Concrete road was recommended after a thorough study of Oguma geographical terrain.
According to him, due to the terrain of Bassa, asphalt roads will not be suitable, hence the expensive and durable solid concrete road to last long and serve the Community better.
He pointed out that the move was to also make Oguma a befitting Local Government headquarters and in fulfilment of Governor Ododo to the people of Bassa.
In his remarks, the Aguma of Bassa, Chief Williams Keke, expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for fulfilling his campaign promises to the people, describing him as a man of his word.
While praying for continued wisdom, good health, and strength to enable him to spread democracy dividends throughout the state, Chief appealed to the Governor to facilitate the return of contractors handling major state roads linking Shintaku-Oguma-Sheria-Dekina.
The Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Theophilus Adama noted that the commencement of the project demonstrates the inclusive governance and infrastructural transformation agenda of the present administration.

He added that the project marks a historic development, being the first-ever township road construction in Oguma, the headquarters of Bassa Local Government since its creation in 1976.
Represented by the Supervisor for Works, Elder Aaron Haruna Ali, the Chairman expressed confidence that with sustained support, more transformative projects will be attracted to the Area.
Recall that Governor Ododo last year approved first phase of road rehabilitation in some Local Government Areas with that of Egbe nearing 95% completion, while Mopa, Ayetoro, Lokoja, and Abejukolo road projects are ready for asphalt laying.
