The Chairman, Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, Mr. Mamaan Nda-Eri says all electoral officers will be held responsible for any breach in the electoral process.
Mr. Nda-Eri gave the warning while briefing newsmen at the end of the election monitoring exercise in Lokoja.
According him ” as foot soldiers, all Electoral officers are expected to jealously guard the votes and see to the safe delivery of results”
He however expressed joy at the turn out of voters for the exercise and expressed hope that at the end the aspiration of voters will be met.
The Chairman commended security Agencies for being available to defend the people stressing that “as people saddled with the responsibility of ensuring peace, they have displayed a sense of commitment for the exercise”.
Also speaking, an Associate Professor and National secretary, forum of state Independent Electoral Commission of Nigeria, Joseph Aremu expressed joy at the turn out of the people describing it as commendable.
Associate Professor Joseph Aremu stressed that ” the state Independent Electoral Commission has done a lot to ensure the smooth take off of the exercise and commended the state government for rising up to the occasion”
In all the polling units visited, the elections were conducted in a peaceful, free and fair manner.
