Kogi SIEC Holds Stakeholders Engagement Meeting To Herald 2026 Council Polls

Ahead of next year’s Council polls in Kogi State, the State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has held a stakeholders meeting with key players in the State.

The gathering which brought together critical players in the electoral process, including political parties, security agencies, civil society organizations, and traditional rulers, provided an opportunity for interactive discussions and stakeholder engagement.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mamman Nda Eri said the State Government has reviewed the State Independent Electoral Commission Law in 2025 to ensure the forthcoming elections are free, fair, credible, and inclusive.

Mr. Eri noted the Commission’s efforts are geared towards creating a robust electoral framework that promotes transparency, accountability, and inclusivity.

According to him, the review aims at deepening democracy particularly at the grassroots level and will sharpen the future of local government in the State.

He explained that the outcome of the stakeholders meeting is expected to contribute significantly to the success of twenty-twenty six Local Government Elections in the State.

An Electoral Attorney, Bamidele Suru, who presented a paper on the” Dynamics of Electoral Jurisprudence for Democratic Development” explained that the new law establishing the Commission will ensure seamless electoral process in the State.
