Kogi SGS Trains 300 Women, Youths on Skill Acquisition to Celebrate 60th Birthday

Activities making the sixtieth birthday of the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Mrs. Folashade Ayoade have commenced on Monday with the training of about three hundred women and youths on various skill acquisition programmes.

 

In celebration of the sixtieth birthday of an Amazon and Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Mrs. Folashade Ayoade, Helpline Socio Support Foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation partnered with the SGS to train women and youths on various skill acquisition programmes.

 

One of the Facilitators, Enejo James noted that the Founder of the NGO, Mrs. Jummai Amodu believes in empowerment of vulnerable women and youths, hence the partnership to train the participants.

 

According to him, the training if taken seriously is capable of making them self reliant, saying the exercise is a way of diversifying to make ends meet.

 

Another Facilitator, Mrs. Cecilia Balogun said the foundation is committed to equipping women and youths in necessary skills that will add value to their lives.

 

She stated that in celebrating the outstanding leadership qualities of the SGS, the Foundation deemed it fit to train the participants to make them employers of labour.

Some of the Participants expressed gratitude to the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State and the NGO for embarking on the exercise.

 

The Participants were trained on soap making, web design, bridal accessories and confectioneries among others.

 

The celebration continues on Wednesday with foundation laying of a Church at Nigeria Correctional Service Centre, Koton Karfe, visit to Rehoboth Children’s Home, Commissioning of the Folashade Ayoade Initiative for Widows and Orphans (FAIWO) Orphanage Home.

 

The programme will be concluded on Sunday with a thanksgiving service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of Grace at eight o’clock in the morning.
