Kogi L-PRES Trains PIU Staff On Monitoring and Evaluation

Kogi State Coordinating Office of Livestock Productivity & Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has trained its staff on Monitoring and Evaluation to ensure effective execution of the project in the State.

According to Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Monitoring and Evaluation, also known as M and E is a continuous management function used to assess if progress is being made in achiev­ing expected results and spotting of bottlenecks in implementation of a programme or project.

In actualizing its aims and objectives, members of the Project Implementation Unit of Kogi L-PRES gathered in Ganaja, Ajaokuta Local Government Area for a training on Monitoring and Evaluation requirements.

The State Project Coordinator of L-PRES, Dr. Olufemi Bolarin said any serious organisation that intend to achieve results must take monitoring and evaluation seriously, hence the training.

Dr. Bolarin explained that Monitoring and Evaluation is the bedrock of any project as it will set up key performance indicators.

He told the Participants that the State and National Office of L-PRES expects robust data from them for effective and efficient planning.

According to him, the M and E if properly implemented will ensure that the real livestock farmers benefit from the project.

In her remarks the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Hajiya Hajiya Lami Zaratu Lawal, said the State Government places high premium on L-PRES Project aimed at enhancing livestock production in the State.

In his presentation, Mall. Aliyu Ahmed, National Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, L-PRES told the PIU that the Coordinating Office has four years to execute the project in the State, adding that quality data is key to effective planning.
