Kogi State Office of Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project L-PRES has commenced its activities with a training workshop for members of the project implementation unit.
The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project L-PRES is a strategic input for Nigeria’s long term approach of developing and transforming livestock sub-sector.
The project which is supported by the World Bank for the thirty six states and the Federal Capital Territory but Kogi and fourteen other states, has been onboarded.
Gathered in Lokoja, the State Capital are members of the Project Implementation Unit of L-PRES to provide orientation for the staff.
The State Project Coordinator, Dr. Olufemi Bolarin while speaking at the workshop said part of the aims of the Project is to bring lasting solution to issues of farmers herders clashes.
According to him, the Project targets thirty thousand livestock farmers and at least, nine thousand women for improved commercial farming in the State.
He noted that the New Direction administration of Governor Yahaya Bello has demonstrated political will to the take off of the project, saying beneficiaries will soon be captured.
The Project Coordinator maintained that livestock farmers in the three Senatorial District will soon be provided with water, saying measures have been put in place to encourage would be beneficiaries.
In their presentations, the Lead Coordinating Consultant for Kogi L-PRES, Dr. Oyesola Oyebanji and Pastor Ajuwon Sola Samuel commended the the State Government for it’s commitment to the project.
