The World Bank has approved massive Projects that will enhance livestock farming in Kogi State.
The Project Coordinator of Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), Mr. Abdulkabir Onuoroiza made this known while briefing members of the State Steering Committee in Lokoja.
Mr. Onuoroiza stated that upon assumption of Office in January this year, he swung into action by changing narrative through high level consultation and synergy, saying the effort has yielded positive results with approvals compared to the past.
According to him, the projects include; rehabilitation of nine Livestock Markets in the nine Federal Constituencies of the State namely, Okumi, Kabba, Osara, Egbe, Okene, Ero, Itobe, Sheria and Ankpa.
The Project Coordinator maintained the bid opening had been opened and the Project will be awarded to the most responsible bidders as the Rehabilitation will be no ironed to ensured the they are executed according to specifications.
Mr. Onuoroiza stated that the World Bank has also approved the establishment of a Livestock Service Centre at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara.
He noted that the Centre is expected to have Administrative Block, 5 kilometres road with drainage system, security post, access road, fire service centre, and fire service centre.
He however commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the State Steering Committee Members for showing interest in he success of th Project.
On his, the Permanent Secretary, Kogi State Ministry of Livestock Development, Dr Abdulsalam Hadi, commended the dedication and teamwork demonstrated by all members of the committee, the State Coordination Office, and partners.
Hadi, who was represented by the Ministry’s Director of Animal Husbandry Services, Mr. Isah Jimoh explained that the L-PRES project would enhance livelihoods of livestock farmers, and promote sustainable livestock production systems.
