Kogi State Government has solicited the intervention of the Federal Government on the deplorable Iluke-Ayetoro – Abugi-Eggan road.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Federal Projects Implementation, Chief Emmanuel Obasi made the appeal during an on-the-spot assessment of the road over the weekend.

The Special Adviser noted that rehabilitation of the 79.3km Iluke-Ayetoro – Abugi-Eggan Federal Road Project was awarded to Setraco Nigeria Ltd in July, 2020 but the contractor abandoned the site after completing only 6km portion of the road.

According to him, the Federal road traverses many communities in the three Local Government Areas of Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu and Lokoja, all in Kogi West Senatorial Zone.

He pointed out that people of the area are farmers with fertile farmlands, who find it difficult to evacuate their farm products to the city to exchange them for money.

Chief Obasi said the State Government will continued to synergize with the Federal Government to implementing numerous Federal Government Projects in the State, especially in the area of road infrastructure.

The Assessment visit was at the instance of the State Governor, Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo
