Kogi Government To Partner With NIMC To Upscale Enrolment Of 500, 000 Persons In National Data Base Before December 2025

Kogi State Government is to partner with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for the enrolment of about 500,000 people on the new National Identification Number (NIN) across the State.

This followed a recent report on the low registration on the new NIN in the State between January and July 2025.

To this end, the Commissioner of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs Hon. Sunday Faleke and the Management of the Ministry on Monday met with the Management team of NIMC in Lokoja to brainstorm on possible ways of collaboration.

The Commissioner while speaking at the meeting, expressed dismay at the low enrollment in the State, noting that NIN registration provides opportunities for adequate planning and services rendering as well as information sharing.

According to him, the Ministry will collaborate with NIMC in the areas of mass sensitization and awareness campaigns, stressing that both State and local Governments appointees in all the 239 wards in the State will be involved for the scale up exercise.

The Commissioner, who used the opportunity to present the Kogi State Fiscal developmental Plan to the State Coordinator of NIMC, assured of the support of the Ministry in actualizing the mandate of the Commission.

On his part the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Doctor Ejigbo Akoji explained that with the ministry’s dedication Kogi State would remedy the NIN enrolment deficit and appreciated the Commissioner and Governor for their doggedness.

Mrs Mary Manama the Regional Coordinator who join the meeting virtually spoke on the need for creation of awareness and that their machines is capable to register at least forty persons per day.

Mrs Manama appreciated the Commissioner Mr. Sunday Faleke and Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for having the interest of their people at hearts.

The State Coordinator of NIMC, Mallam Tagwai Rabiu Garba appreciated the Commissioner for moving swiftly to salvage the low in enrolment situation, pointing out that with the renewed strategic collaboration, success will be achieved.

Mallam Tagwai promised to cooperate with relevant Stakeholders to achieve set goals.
