Kogi First Lady Mourns Hajia Rekiya Usman Alfa, Hails Her Humanitarian Legacy

Wife of Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, has commiserated with the family of the late Hajia Rekiya Usman Alfa, fondly known as Hajia London, and the entire people of Okunland over her passing.

In a heartfelt condolence message, the First Lady described the late Hajia Rekiya as a remarkable woman whose exceptional qualities distinguished her throughout her lifetime.

She particularly extolled Mama London’s philanthropic and humanitarian contributions, noting that her efforts positively impacted the lives of many, especially widows, girls, and the elderly both within and outside Kogi State.

“Hajia Rekiya was an embodiment of humanity, leaving her mark in community development, household upliftment, and family empowerment — all without bias to religion or ethnicity,” Mrs. Ododo stated.

She urged the bereaved family and the people of Owe land to take solace in the fact that Hajia Rekiya lived a fulfilled and impactful life.

“It is my fervent prayer that Allah grants Mama London mercy, forgives her shortcomings, and admits her into Aljanah Firdaus.
May her legacy continue to live on in the hearts of our people, and may we find strength in the love and memories we shared with her,” she added.

Born on October 3, 1959, in Kabba, Kogi State, Hajia Rekiya Usman Alfa passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at the age of 65.
