More than one hundred athletes from Kogi State have left Lokoja for the 2025 National Youth Games in Asaba.
The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Monday Anyebe, assured the contingent that government will prioritize their welfare during the competition.
Speaking at the Lokoja Stadium, the Commissioner urged the athletes to be good ambassadors of the state, perform better than before, and make Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the people of Kogi State proud by winning medals.
Also, the Director of the Kogi State Sports Council, James Abel Igah, encouraged the athletes to put in their best and bring home medals.
The athletes, who will compete in more than twenty sporting events, expressed gratitude to the government.
On behalf of the team, Samson Joshua thanked the government and promised they will strive to win medals and make the state proud.
