KGHA Receives A Bill To Repeal the Kogi State Urban and Regional Planning 2010

The Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Umar Yusuf has notified the House about two privately sponsored bills .

The two bills which were announced on the floor of the House at plenary were sponsored by member representing Yagba-East State Constituency, Emmanuel Obaro.

The first bill has its title as “A Bill for a Law to Repeal the Kogi State Urban and Regional Planning 2010 and Enact a Bill to provide for the Administration of Physical Planning Urban Development, Urban Regeneration and Building Control related purposes, 2023.

It is believed that when the bill is repealed and reenacted and subsequently assented to as law, it will take care of the loopholes in the administration of urban , regional and building plans in the state.

The second bill is titled “A Bill for a Law to make provision for the amendment of Chiefs (Appointment, Disposition and Establishment of Traditional Councils in Kogi State) Law, 2006.”

It is expected that the second bill will create sanity in the running of the affairs of traditional institution when assented after which the Speaker directed the Sponsor of the bills to lay the draft copies before the House.

The bills are expected to pass through first and second reading before the sponsor of the bills will lead the debate on them and expectedly pass through third and final reading before being assented to as laws
