The need for unity and sustenance on current onslaught against criminals took the centre stage at this year’s Kabba Day.
After over three years of leadership tussle of Kabba Development Union (KDU) and intervention of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo through the Office if the State Security Adviser, retired Commander Jerry Omodara, sons and daughters of Owen land also known as Kabba gathered to celebrate this year’s Kabba Day.
Kogi Born Philanthropist, Prince Olatunji Olusoji, who was the Chairman of the Occasion told the mammoths crowd that the Unity of Okun land lies in the Unity of Kabba, saying there can be no meaningful development in an atmosphere of rancour and acrimony.
Prince Olatunji used the Occasion to solicited for the support of people of Okun land for the re-election bid of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo come November 2027, saying the the people will not be cajoled into unnecessary battle.

He noted that Okun people must unite and cue behind Governor Ododo in the next Governorship election as he can be trusted for power to shift to Kogi West.
In his words, “Nobody should mislead you into an unnecessary battle. To fight is no easy, if we make this mistake to initiate any battle, when the time comes, they will have an excuse to play us again.”
“Politics is not a secret society and you will agree, it is something that is open. So you will agree with me that there are tensions already in the land regarding what we are looking for, an Okun Governor. We can only get that by dialoguing with our people and by supporting the government of the day to finish strong and I believe when we do that, the Governor will see reasons to hand over power to an Okun person when the time comes.
According to him, Okun needs unity and should not listen to Politicians that want to drag the Area into unnecessary battles to occupy Lugard House as the current Governor should be allowed to complete his second tenure.
He stated that he is not interested in any Position but a better life for the entire people of Kogi West with good road network and rural electrification, pointing out that such can only be achieved with support for Governor Ododo.
In his remarks, the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi described the well attended ceremony as a dividend of peace and unity that must be sustained for the Community to take its rightful place.
On his part, the Chairman of Kabba-Bunu Local Government, Barrister Zacheaus Dare congratulated sons and daughters of Kabba on the celebration and promised to ensure safety of lives and property.
In a message to the Occasion, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo emphasized the need for the people to support Security Agencies in their efforts to nip crimes in the bud, urging them to build Kabba that is of the dream of its founding fathers.
Represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, the Governor said the ceremony was not only a reunion but a platform .for unity and peace and cautioned the people to be mindful of Politicians who are only out to cause disaffection among them.
Earlier, the President General of KDU, Alhaji Zachary Dare Ejibunu, said the occasion was organised to unite the people and gather resources for the completion of Kabba Civic Centre and called on the people of Kabba to unite against insecurity and work towards the development of their community.
