The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has refuted claims circulating in some sections of the media alleging that it failed to comply with a court directive regarding the suspension of the profile of a candidate, Monsuru Aliat Aduragbemi.
In a statement signed by the Board’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB described the reports as false and misleading, attributing them to what it called “conflict entrepreneurs” intent on exploiting the situation for personal gain.
The Board explained that the supposed suspension message associated with the candidate’s profile was a routine, automated system response triggered when modifications are restricted — in this case, to ensure strict adherence to a subsisting court order maintaining the status quo.
JAMB clarified that as of the time the suit was filed and the order granted, the candidate was no longer affiliated with either Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) or the University of Lagos (UNILAG). It said the Board’s decision not to permit any alteration to her profile or the affected institutions’ admission lists was in full compliance with judicial directives.
Reiterating its commitment to transparency, fairness, and the rule of law, JAMB stressed that it will not be drawn into any media sensationalism aimed at undermining the integrity of the judicial process.
The Board urged all concerned parties to respect the authority of the courts and desist from spreading falsehoods capable of misleading the public.
