The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reassured residents of Warri Federal Constituency that the process of ward delineation ordered by the Supreme Court is still under consideration, dismissing speculations of suspension.
In a statement on Monday, September 29, 2025, signed by National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, mni, the electoral umpire clarified that no final decision has been reached on the proposed delineation of wards in Warri North, Warri South, and Warri South West.
Olumekun said a section of the media had misquoted a Commission official, creating the impression that INEC had suspended action on the exercise.
> “Contrary to the report, the proposed delineation has not been suspended and no final decision has been taken on the matter,” he stated.
The Commission also highlighted that the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise is fully active across all local government areas under the constituency.
INEC appealed to all stakeholders in the area to remain law-abiding and maintain peace as the Commission continues to work within the framework of the Supreme Court’s directive.
