INEC Publishes Final List, Flags Off Campaigns for 2025 Anambra Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the final list of candidates for the 2025 Anambra State Governorship election, with 16 political parties confirmed to participate in the November 8 poll.

This was contained in a statement by INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun on Wednesday, June 4,stating that the publication followed the conclusion of the withdrawal and substitution period which ended on June 2.

According to the statement, the African Action Congress (AAC) and the National Rescue Movement (NRM) are fielding female governorship candidates, while six other parties have female running mates. These include Accord (A), All Progressives Congress (APC), Action Peoples Party (APP), Boot Party (BP), Labour Party (LP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

Olumekun added that no political party nominated a person with disability, and the ages of candidates range from 36 to 71 years saying the full list has been uploaded to INEC’s website and social media platforms for public access.

He further announced that political campaigns will officially begin on Wednesday, June 11, and end at midnight on Thursday, November 6, 2025. INEC reminded parties to avoid hate speech, violence, and the abuse of incumbency, while ensuring equal access to public facilities and media for all candidates.
