A new Sports Arena has been inaugurated in Lokoja the Kogi State Capital as part of efforts to improve sporting activities among youths and enhance the well-being of the people.
Inaugurating the Sports arena in Lokoja, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. AridaOjo Monday Anyebe said the initiative is part of individual’s commitment to sports development.
The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the young man, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Sports Arena, Mr Mike Balogun for his efforts at promoting sporting activities in the State.
According to him, the measure will help to identify talents among the youths, describing Sports as a unifying factor among the people.
Honourable AridaOjo Monday Anyebe Promised that the government will continue to play its part to promote sports and enhance youth development.
”Let me use this opportunity to call on individuals, organizations and other sports lovers to channel their resources towards sports development in Kogi State, this is important because sports remains a unifying factor among the people, which is why the government will commend this young man for this spectacular initiative for thinking in this direction”, the Commissioner added.
The Managing Director/CEO Of the MKICKS SPORTS Arena, Mr Mike.Balogun who was represented at the event, said the initiative was borne out of his love to help youths to develop their talents.
He called on other sons and daughters of the state to think of how to contribute to the growth and development of the state, emphasizing that government alone cannot do everything for the people.
Team Captain of the Arena who also spoke at the event, stressed the need for discipline, and commitment among the players, and called for their cooperation and promised to do his best to enable them excel in their chosen career.
