The governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress, honorable Denis Idahosa has said that his first point of call is to end insecurity in Edo state if given the mandate.
Idahosa made this known while speaking with Newsman after the submission of his nomination and expression interest forms at the Party’s headquarters in Abuja
The serving Lawmaker who noted that as predominant farmers that Edo people are known for, insecurity is depriving them of their daily activities in the farm due to famers and herders clash, promising that he will involved the necessary security agencies to give Edo farmers more secured and safe environment to operate.
“The gentleman who spoke before me wants me to kind of highlight some of the key areas that I’m going to be telling Edo people during the course of our campaign. The first one is about insecurity that we face in our state, Edo. I made it clear to my Edo people during the course of consultations that I will take care of the issue of insecurity in my state by collaborating with all the security agencies across the state”
“and majority of our state people are farmers as we speak, we can no longer go to farm as a result of farmers and herders crises as a governor of Edo state by the grace of God. I will collaborate with all the security agencies to ensure that the land is safe and secure for parents to go back to farm”
Speaking on the autonomy of the Local Government, Idahosa said, “I also promised the Edo people that i will ensure that there is Local Government autonomy, to ensure that most of the money appropriated for Local Government are actually used in the various Local Government.
“As it stand in the Edo right now the state governments, the current state governments, led by PDP government, they give stipends to Local Government chairmen to do minor things and at the end of the day, nothing has been done. under my watch as a governor, I will ensure that money appropriated to Local Government actually get to them”
“Also, we are currently having some issues with the State Government trying to interfere with issues of traditional institutions under my watch as a Governor of a Edo by the grace of God we will ensure that we protects and respects our traditional institution.” Idahosa said.
Fielding questions on the bills and motions sponsored in the House of Representatives, the honorable member who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Healthcare Services explained that, ” I moved about 31 motions as we speak, and sponsored about 17 bills, one of which is beneficiary to my constituency. If you noticed, Ovia River Bridge, there was a lot of accidents. About a year ago, as regards to the bad sport in the Ovia river bridge, and I moved the motion to fix, calling on the Federal Government and through FEMA to go on and fix the bridge. And almost immediately, the bridge was fixed and there’s no more casualty in that axis”.
“Also it might interest you to know that I have facilitated not less than 124 projects within the space of four years as a legislator, representing the good people of Ovia Federal Constituency. So to me, is not about coming to the media to speak is about your people feeling the impact of your representation in your constituency. So in that i have done very well.” He added.
