Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has flagged off the distribution of 24 trucks of Federal Government-supplied fertilizer to farmers in the state with a view to boosting agricultural produce.

The flag off of Fertilizer which took place at the premises of State Agricultural Development Project in Lokoja was to ease farming in the State.

The flagship fertilizer Programme represents a turning point for agriculture in Kogi State by empowering farmers with the tools they need to succeed.

It aims to transform the wet season farming landscape, leading to increased food production, improved livelihoods, and a more robust state economy.

The 24 trucks of fertilizer from Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for distribution to farmers in Kogi State is part of efforts to increase food production in this year’s wet season farming.

Governor Ahmed Ododo while delivering his speech at the event stressed the importance of the initiative for boosting agriculture and food security in the state.

Ododo warned against the diversion or politicization of the fertilizer distribution, noting that the fertilizer must reach genuine farmers.

He expressed his commitment to ensuring transparency by tracking the distribution process closely and acknowledged the significant role that agriculture plays in revitalizing the economy.

According to the Governor, his administration’s dedication to supporting the agriculture sector in the state cannot be over emphasize.

He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts to supporting agriculture, which is crucial during the current economic challenges.

The State commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Timothy Ojomah expressed appreciation to Governor Ododo for his numerous interventions in the agricultural sector that have positioned Kogi State as a major hub for agricultural production in Nigeria.

Earlier the Managing Director of Kogi State Agricultural Development Project, Mr. George Ogirima said the decision of the Federal Government to provide fertilizer for distribution to farmers in the state is in in tandem with the vision of the Kogi State government under Governor Ododo to revamp the agriculture sector in the state.
