Wife of Kogi State Governor Hajiya Sefinat Usman Ododo has promised to ensure all round economic empowerment for women in the state.
Hajiya Sefinat stated this while celebrating the International Women’s Day with various women groups at the Glass House, Government House in Lokoja.
The International Women’s Day commemorated every March eight is a day set aside globally to celebrate the success and achievements of women.
Hajiya Sefinat explained that it is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women all over the world with the aim of encouraging them to do more.
The first lady noted that her office was ready to carry women and children along in the scheme of things devoid of discrimination and oppression.
Hajiya Sefinat Also said that it was important to note that gender equity focus should be in economic investment to grow the society.
The state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Hajiya Fatima Momoh who explained that the day serves as an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate women around the world urged them to adopt the women supporting women policy.
Hajiya Fatima also said investing in women is accelerating progress in the society saying that no nation can have meaningful development without women.
The commissioner noted that her office was ready to give the necessary support to the Kogi women and children socially, economically as well as addressing systemic barriers.
Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner’s wives, wife of Anthony General and Commissioner for Justice Princess Kareemat Abdullahi who described women as unique with critical roles in the family and the nation at large said women needs to rededicate themselves to their work, family and remain a support system to other women.
She pledged their unalloyed support to the present administration of Alhaji Usman Ododo.
