Kogi State Governor-Elect, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo has assured Kogites of his readiness to deepen the gains of the GYB years in the state.
The Governor-Elect made the call at the Special Thanksgiving Ceremony to mark the end of tenure of Alh Taufiq Isah, Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area and ALGON, Kogi State.
Alhaji Ododo who was represented by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Evangelist Kingsley Femi Fanwo said the Governor Yahaya Bello years have been marked by massive transformation of the Confluence State in the areas of security, education, healthcare , industrialization and women and youth empowerment, assuring the people that his administration will work hard to continue the “beautiful legacies of GYB”.
“I want to thank the good people of Ijumu Local Government Area for voting for me massively on November 11. You demonstrated your commitment to United, prosperous Kogi State. I also thank you for giving us Alhaji Taufiq Isa who has done so much for the people and for humanity.
“We are coming to ensure massive rural development as well as consolidate the achievements of the Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration. Our slogan is Consolidation and Continuity. I worked with Governor Yahaya Bello and I have a perfect undertaking of where we want our state to be in a couple of years. We thank GYB for being the architect of a new Kogi State”.
The Governor-elect said he is determined to turn the youth to legitimate wealth creators by focusing on the digital economy and deploying their Information Technology knowledge to create wealth and jobs.
He called on the people to support him to step into the “big show that GYB is leaving behind”.
“Succeeding a phenomenal leader like GYB is a massive task. But we are not afraid of making Kogi people proud because we have learnt from the best”, The Governor-elect assured.
In a remark at the Valedictory and Thanksgiving ceremony, the Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area and ALGON Chairman, Kogi State, Alhaji Taufiq Isah, expressed his deep gratitude to Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, stating that as long as the governor is alive, he will remain relevant in Kogi State politics in view of the impact Governor Bello has had on his career.
Alhaji Taufiq reflected on his journey, acknowledging that his story would not be complete without mentioning Governor Yahaya Bello’s role.
“When I served as the caretaker chairman for Ijumu Local Government Area, Governor Bello provided unwavering support, enabling me to become the Executive Chairman. Governor Bello also made history by appointing me as the ALGON Chairman for Kogi State, a position I held throughout the caretaker era and until today, surpassing all previous achievements in the state’s history” Taufiq added
While expressing his gratitude to his family, community, and colleagues, the Ijumu Local Government boss extended his appreciation to God for His divine providence.
He acknowledged the support and sacrifices made by his immediate and extended family, as well as the indigenes and residents of Odokoro-Gbede, his community.
Alhaji Taufiq also thanked the legislative arm of the local government, his appointees, the management and staff of Ijumu Local Government Area, and the traditional councils that provided support and collaboration during his tenure.
