Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has called on Nigerians to embrace the virtues of love, sacrifice, and unity as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking with journalists shortly after observing the two-rakat Eid prayer, at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Center Lokoja Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo described the occasion as a special day that offers an opportunity for reflection on the spiritual lessons of Ramadan.
According to him, “Eid-el-Fitr is a day that reminds us of love, sacrifice, and total submission to the will of God. It is also a time to reflect on the lessons of compassion, self-discipline, and generosity which Ramadan has taught us.”
The Governor expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of the fasting period and urged citizens to sustain the values imbibed during Ramadan in their daily lives
Governor Ododo acknowledged the current socio-economic and security challenges facing the country and called for renewed faith in Nigeria’s unity and progress.
“We are in a trying period, but my message to my people and indeed all Nigerians is to continue to have faith in the greatness of this country. We must also pray for our leaders because when they succeed, the nation succeeds,” he said.
He also reiterated support for the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that they are already yielding positive results and require the collective belief and cooperation of citizens.
On the issue of insecurity, particularly in parts of the country, the Governor assured residents that significant progress is being made through coordinated efforts between the state government and security agencies.
He commended the administration of President Tinubu for its commitment to tackling insecurity nationwide and disclosed that encouraging reports are being received from security operations within the state.
Governor Ododo emphasized that his administration would not relent in its efforts to rid Kogi State of criminal elements, stressing that there would be no negotiations with terrorists or bandits.
“We are working with credible intelligence, and I urge traditional rulers and community members to continue to provide timely and verifiable information. Together with security agencies, we are winning the fight and will not allow any threat to take root in our land,” he stated.
The Governor expressed appreciation to security agencies for their collaboration and synergy in maintaining peace and order across the state.
On the political front, Governor Ododo advised aspirants seeking elective positions to engage with the grassroots and earn the trust of the people, maintaining that leadership should always reflect the will of the Allah.
He expressed confidence that the people of Kogi State will continue make informed decisions that will sustain good governance and development in the state.
