Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has approved the upgrading of the Ter Tiv Kogi State, Chief Moses Vor to third Class Status
Governor Ododo also directed the Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly Alhaji Umar Yusuf to allocate a plot of land for the building of Tiv Secretariat at Crucher Lokoja to enhance their activities in the state.
The Governor made this known when stakeholders, youths and women groups from Tiv community in the state paid him a visit at the Government House Lokoja on Thursday.
Governor Ododo appreciated the Tiv Community in the State for their untiring support and peacefull co- existence among the people.
Governor Ododo commended the Tiv people for maintaining peace and order in their host community.
He said their support and prayers during the last election was impressive as they came out in their numbers to support the All Progressives Congress and urged them not to relent.
He also promised to give appointment to some of their sons and daughters in his cabinet to build more confidence in them that Kogi is home to all.
On his part, The Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Aliyu Umar praised the governor for granting audience to the Tiv people resident in Kogi to expressed themselves.
He reiterated that the Tiv people resident in the state are peace loving people and they have never been found wanting.
According to the Speaker, the Tiv community came out in their numbers during the last election to vote for the APC without any demand from government or individuals and appealed that they should be given equal chance to contribute to the socio- economic development of the state without fear or favor.
He noted that if the Tiv people in Kogi State are given free hand to operate it will strengthen the relationship between Kogi and Benue state.
The Ter Tiv and Chairman Traditional council of Tiv Kogi State, His Royal Highness Moses Chino Vor said the purpose of the visit is to congratulated the Governor on his well deserved victory at the supreme court and also reassured him of their unflinching support in his administration effort to better the lot of the people.
Chief Moses vor commended the Governor for consolidating and building on the achievements of the former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello in all segments of the state’s economy saying his achievement in office in less than one year is overwhelming.
He noted that Governor Ododo’s approval of seventy two thousand five hundred naira minimum wage has made him the best performing governor In the northern region and appealed for appointment of Tiv people resident in Kogi for appointment in some of the tertiary in situations in the state to enable them contribute to the development of the institutions and Kogi state in general.
High point of the event was the presentation of Tiv traditional atire to the Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo by the Tiv people resident in Kogi State.
