The Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka has bagged the Rotary Award of Outstanding labour leader.
Receiving the Award in Lokoja the Kogi State Capital, Comrade Edoka who was represented by a Director in the State Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr Samuel Atuluku said there was need for the proper strengthening of Non Governmental Organizations, considering their roles in societal growth and development.
He noted that Rotary as an International Organization has done well in virtually all sectors, including health, education, social services, human capital development as well as infrastructure, stressing that if properly supported, they could do more.
He also emphasized the need for well to do individuals, governments and organizations to support the Rotary club of Lokoja in view of its commitment to humanitarian services despite the present economic instability in the Country.
”Let me quickly point out at this juncture that Rotary as an International Non Governmental Organization has always been up and doing in the realization of her goals or vision; these programs are visible in the health sector, education, economic empowerment, etc. Their areas of intervention are multi faceted, which is why it becomes expedient to give the Rotary the needed support “, Edoka stated.
The Special Adviser said an award coming from a highly revered organization such as Rotary should be taken seriously and commended the Rotary Club of Lokoja for recognizing him for the award and promised to see it as a motivating factor to do more.
In his words, “This award today gives me further joy that our government is doing well, this is because I cannot achieve anything without the government providing the conducive atmosphere for me, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s passion for excellence is second to none, he will continue to make life better for the citizens of Kogi State” , he remarked.
He assured that he would not take the recognition for granted and dedicated the award to the Chief servant of Kogi State, the people of Olamaboro Local Government and the labour circle.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Central planning committee, Mr Shittu Jibrin said the award was based on Comrade Onuh Edoka’s genuine contributions to labour matters.
Mr Shittu urged others in positions of authority to always make a positive difference towards serving God and humanity.
