Gov Ododo Pays Homage to Obaro of Kabba, Orders Provision of Motorized Boreholes Across LGAs

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on Friday paid a courtesy visit to the Obaro of Kabba, His Royal Majesty Oba Solomon Owoniyi, during which he directed all commissioners in the state to provide at least three motorized boreholes in their respective local government areas.

Speaking during the visit, Governor Ododo said his trip to Kabba was not only to pay homage to the traditional ruler but also to inspect ongoing government projects, particularly ecological interventions and development work at the Kogi State University, Kabba campus.

“We are here to assess the impact of ongoing projects and ensure that they meet the needs of our people,” the governor stated. “These projects reflect our determination to bring governance closer to the people.”

 

Governor Ododo expressed deep appreciation to the Obaro and other traditional rulers for their continued support, prayers, and wise counsel, which he said have strengthened his administration’s resolve to deliver good governance and sustainable development to the people of Kogi State.

“No government can succeed without the cooperation of traditional institutions,” he noted. “You remain the bridge between the government and the grassroots. Your role in maintaining peace and security cannot be overstated.”

 

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing security challenges, youth festiveness, and environmental degradation across the state.

He also assured the Obaro that the government is strengthening local security through the Kogi State Vigilante Service and urged royal fathers to support and guide security efforts within their domains.

On education and infrastructure, Governor Ododo highlighted the progress being made at the Kogi State University, Kabba, noting that the institution is fast transforming the educational and economic landscape of the area.

“It is our collective responsibility to protect and nurture this university so that it can serve generations to come,” he said. “We are also addressing ecological challenges such as flooding and erosion to restore degraded lands and improve the environment.”

The governor commended the success of the ongoing ecological projects in Kabba, describing them as a reflection of the administration’s people-centered approach to governance.

In his remarks, the Obaro of Kabba, His Royal Majesty Oba Solomon Owoniyi, thanked the governor for his visit and the numerous developmental projects being executed across the area. He also presented a list of requests, including the rehabilitation of major roads linking Kabba to surrounding communities and improvements in communication networks.

“Your Excellency, we appreciate your efforts in promoting peace and security in our communities,” the monarch said. “However, we still face challenges with road networks and connectivity. We appeal to your government to look into these issues.”

The royal father also called for more engagement between local government officials and the state administration to ensure smooth communication and faster implementation of community-based projects. Governor Ododo also inspected the Igbo market that was burnt down with a view to repair and other critical on going project in kabba bunu and charged the contractors to speedy up their work.
