Four bills have scaled through First Reading on the floor of the Kogi State House Assembly.
The bills are, Doctor Umaru Sandah Ahmodu College of Health Technology, Lokoja (Establishment) Bill, 2024 and Confluence University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital, Okene (Establishment) Bill, 2024.
Others are Kogi State Issuance of Mining Permits Prohibition Bill 2024 and Kogi State Geographic Information Service Bill, 2024.
Meanwhile, the State House of Assembly has slated Wednesday for the screening of the chairman and five nominated members for Kogi State Local Government Service Commission.
The Assembly, at Tuesday plenary sitting directed the nominees to appear before the House for screening.
The directive is sequel to the adoption of a letter sent to the House by the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, seeking the screening and approval of the House for appointment of the nominees.
Governor Ododo in the letter sent to the House and read by the Speaker, Aliyu Umar Yusuf, urged the Assembly to screen the nominees inline with the constitutional requirement for members of the Kogi State Local Government Service Commission Law.
The nominees include, Alhaji Adams Adabenege, Chairman; Elisha Peter Folorunsho, Commissioner; AhmoduYakubu, Commissioner; Babadoko Suleiman, Commissioner; Salami Abdulrahim, Commissioner; Attai Okolo Musa, Commissioner.
The lawmakers in a unanimous voice votes approved the governor’s request.
