Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has flagged off the distribution of security vehicles donated by the State Security Trust Fund, marking another major step in strengthening the state’s security architecture.

Speaking at the ceremony today at the Government House, Lokoja, Governor Ododo described the initiative as an important milestone in his administration’s commitment in safeguarding lives, property, and investments across our state.

He noted that the intervention by the Security Trust Fund underscores the impact of strong institutions and the value of citizen participation in security development.

According to him, several patriotic citizens have continued to donate operational vehicles to the state, demonstrating a growing understanding that security is a shared responsibility.

Governor Ododo praised Kogi residents for their unwavering support and cooperation, adding that the state is already witnessing positive results from ongoing modernization of its security framework.

Ododo also expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support in strengthening security measures in Kogi State.

“President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has shown consistent and genuine interest in the peace and safety of our dear state, and for this we remain deeply grateful,” He said.

The governor called on well-meaning individuals, corporate bodies, and organizations operating within the state to further support government efforts to maintain safety, stressing that government alone cannot shoulder all security responsibilities.

Chairman Kogi State Security Trust Fund, Air Vice Marshal Umar Faruq Omeiza (Rtd.), described the event as a bold step toward enhancing the operational efficiency of security agencies across the state.

He noted that the distribution of patrol vehicles, buses, and motorcycles reflects the administration’s determination to ensure the safety of every part of Kogi State

Omeiza commended Governor Ododo’s proactive approach to security management, which he said has led to improved coordination among security agencies and strengthened public confidence.

He added that while the Trust Fund has refurbished several grounded patrol vehicles as a cost-effective immediate measure, the time has come to transition fully to procuring brand-new, durable security vehicles capable of withstanding rigorous field operations.

Omeiza emphasized the importance of accountability and proper maintenance of the newly distributed assets to ensure their longevity.

He also highlighted the urgent need for establishing a Central Base for the Kogi State Logistics Trust Fund, which would house administrative offices, an ICT monitoring unit, workshops, fueling stations, and storage facilities with capacity to maintain over 100 patrol vehicles

Kogi State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd.), praised the Trust Fund for its continued support, describing the new vehicles as another step in staying ahead of bandits and kidnappers.

He announced that the state is now better positioned to reach out to companies operating within Kogi for further partnerships in strengthening security.

“Kogi is ready for state policing, and we are prepared to work towards it whenever the federal government gives the directive.” He stated.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Commissioner of Police Nasiru Bello Kankarofi expressed gratitude to the state government and the Trust Fund for the support extended to security agencies.

He assured the governor that the vehicles would be used strictly for the purpose for which they were provided and pledged the commitment of all beneficiaries to enhancing security across the state.
