The Federal Polytechnic Idah, has approved the introduction of Digital certificates issuance and phasing out of statement of results as well as manual certificate issuance to graduating students of the institution.
Rector of the Polytechnic, Doctor Yahaya Baba-Usman stated this at the thirty seventh Matriculation of the Institution in Idah.
Doctor Usman who described matriculation as an academic activity of any tertiary institution organized to admit formally new students into the membership of the community, said the innovation will further re-position the institution in attaining the dreams of the founding fathers of the polytechnic and in line with global best practices.
He called on the newly matriculated students to be committed to their studies and acquire necessary technological skills to enable them contribute to the technological advancement of the country, saying the polytechnic has programmes to acquaint students with the right knowledge, attitude and skills.
While urging the students to shun all forms of social vices to enable them achieve their academic goals, the Rector noted that the institution will not tolerate any act capable of joepardizing the peaceful co-existing of all members of the polytechnic community.
He advised the students to get the students comprehensive handbook to enable them acquaint themselves with rules of the school.
The Rector assured members and staff of the polytechnic of his commitment to their welfare, saying he is committed to creating a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning activities on the campus.
According to him, within the last one year as the Rector of the institution, the management under his leadership, utilized the 2022 Revitilization fund, to renovate hostels, procured two utility vehicles, two industrial water boreholes and Reticulation of water on campus, among others.
Others are, utilization of 2023 capital appropriation, to construct roads, paved walk-way and land scaping of SOGAS and Administrative Block and construction of drainages as well as construction of Male and Female hostels from the 2023 special intervention from the Federal Ministry of Finance.
Highlight of the ceremony was the award of ten thousand naira each to the best final year students of National and Higher National Diploma of all the departments.
over four thousand students were matriculated into National and Higher National Diploma programmes of the Institution.
