Kogi State Local Government Service Commissioner has commenced inspection of government property in the twenty one Local Government Areas.
Following the handing over by immediate past Local Government Chairmen, a team from the Local Government Service Commission has commenced verification of equipment on ground.
The first point of call was Okene Local Government Area where the team rated the Local Government as one of the best in terms of maintaining government property.
The Director Finance and Administration, Local Government Service Commission, Mr Haruna Jibo, who spoke on behalf of the team of inspectors, said the exercise was to verify vehicles and equipments in each Local Government to assess their availability and serviceability.
Mr Jibo said though the Commission is aware that some equipment were auctioned sometimes ago, they want to see the approval so as to compare with their records.
According to him Okene has scored high in terms of their equipment management as the six tractors given to them by the current administration are still serviceable and yielding including other vehicles and heavy duty equipment owned by the Local Government.
In a remark, the Director of Local Government, Okene, Alhaji Sadiq Adangara said the coming of the team is a welcome idea as it is a usual thing to take stock of things at the end of a tenure.
Alhaji Adangara expressed joy over the commendation given to the Local Government by the team, appealing to the state government for funds to fix the equipments that needs repair so as to make them functional for the next season.
