Chinese Embassy Awards 52 scholarship to Teachers, Students to Mark 52nd Aniversary with Nigeria

Chinese Embassy in Nigeria has awarded scholarship to 20 teachers and 32 students in Schools in the the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja to mark its 52nd Aniversary on the establishment of bilateral relations between China and Nigeria.

The October 1st award of China-Nigeria friendship which took place at the China Assisted Model Primary School, Nyanya in Abuja, was to promote educational advancement and interpersonal relationships between the two countries.

The Embassy, which is interested in catching them young and training the youths believes that the need to equip youths is paramount to their educational development as they will be the leaders of tomorrow.

In her opening remark, Wife of the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria Ms. Liang Huil expressed her gratitude for the efforts put in place in promoting cultural and educational exchange and cooperation between two nations.

Ms. Huil said “2023 is an important year, which marks the 52th Anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between China and Nigeria, driven by the initiative of ‘Sharing Chinese Harmony and Performing Nigeria-China Symphony’ , this year, great achievements have been made in people-to-people and cultural exchanges between Nigeria and China.

“China-Nigeria relations enjoy sound momentum, with political mutual trust being enhanced, cooperation in various fields yielding fruitful results and coordination on international and regional affairs being closer.

She said ” We highly value the contributions made by the people from our two countries, to this amicable and robust relations.

“The Oct. 1st Award of China-Nigeria Friendship” of this year will be presented to 52 outstanding students and teachers. As we all know, education is very critical to the progress, prosperity and civilization of a country. It is important to individuals as well, especially for children. It helps children learn how to think critically, enhance their creativity and imagination. It guides children to find the path to a career that they wish to pursue as an adult.

According to her, “The Chinese Embassy has always been attaching great importance to cooperation in the field of education between our two countries and has alvways been caring about the students of China-Assisted Model Primary School Nyanya. In the past, the Chinese Embassy and Chinese companies in Nigeria built new classrooms, did maintenance work for those old toilets, donated computers which were badly needed by students and power generator which was urgently demanded by the school. We really made great efforts to assure our school could get what they want.

“Today we bring with us new items, with a wish that they will be able to help the teachers in their teaching, help the students in their studies and contribute to the development of school.

 

Earlier in her welcome address, the head Teacher of the school, Mrs Jummai Haruna who appreciated the embassy for choosing their school as the beneficiary of the award, noted that the scholarship not only recognizes academic excellence but also testament to the hard work, resilience, and determination that each recipient has demonstrated on their educational journey.

Highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of scholarships to 52 deserving students and teachers who were selected based on their academic performance, extra-curricular involvement, and leadership qualities.

The scholarship award was a resounding success, reaffirming the strong partnership between China and Nigeria in the field of education.

The event served as an inspiration to all students and teachers, encouraging them to strive for excellence and contribute to the betterment of their communities.
