CHILDREN DAY: EDUCATION OF KOGI CHILDREN NON NEGOTIABLE – WEMI JONES

Kogi State Government has reiterated commitment to children’s education.

Kogi State Commissioner of Education, Mr Wemi Jones stated this while celebrating Kogi children on the annual May twenty seven children day celebration in collaboration with the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in Lokoja.

Mr Wemi maintained that the government of Alhaji Usman Ododo would not relent in his commitment to bridging gaps in acquiring quality education in the state.

While emphasizing on the importance of education, the commissioner advised parents to prioritize the education of their wards for a better society by taking advantage of the Kogi free examination bill of the state government.

Mr Wemi who said that Kogi government allocates thirty percent of staturatory budget to the education sector advised children to be studious and not thwart the efforts of their parents and congratulated them on the occasion of children day celebration.

The commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development Hajiya Fatima Momoh said the day is a reminder of the important role children play in shaping the Nation’s future as tomorrow’s leaders.

Hajiya Fatima noted that Kogi State is leading in providing quality and free education from Primary to secondary school as it has zero tolerance for children being out of school.

Highlights of the events was March pass, cultural and Carnival displays
while Police Children Primary School came first in the March pass at the Primary category and Army Day Secondary School Lokoja came first at the Secondary category.

The theme of this year’s Children Day celebration is “Enhancing the Total wellbeing of the Nigerian child through Quality Education and skilled Development”.
